Age of Miracles?

Did healing die out with the Apostles? Was there and age of Miracles?

Many believe that miracles ceased with the apostles,

Lets look closely at it…

That teaching comes from this scripture. (1 Cor 13:9-12)

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will be done away with. Where there are various languages, they will cease. Where there is knowledge, it will be done away with

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part;

10 but when that which is complete has come, then that which is partial will be done away with.

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child. Now that I have become a man, I have put away childish things.

12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, even as I was also fully known.

The teaching is all based on when the complete has come… many believe that is talking about the (canon) bible.

If we look further we will see its talking about us being complete not the bible…

When we are complete we won’t need things that were given to help while we were yet partial, we won’t need knowledge or prophecy or tongues (languages) where we are going, they will be childish.

Lets look closer…

  • Are prophecies done away with? The bible has heaps still unfilled?

  • Is knowledge done away with? Knowledge is doubling every five years.

  • Are various languages done away with? There are thousands still been spoken all over the world,

  • Paul said “now I know in part but then I will know fully” Paul died hundreds of years before the canon (bible) was ever put together, how could he say “I will know fully“.

  • Do you still see through a mirror dimly? I do

  • Do you know fully? I don’t,

  • Even as you are known by God? I wish

  • Or do you see all things face to face (clearly)? I don’t

  • Are God’s promises of abundant life “childish things”?

  • Is being healed of tormenting pain and disease “childish things”?

  • Is being delivered from life destroying demons “childish things”?

  • Is the power of God “childish things”?

  • Are the signs following to backup the gospel “childish things”?

  • Is going about destroying the works of the devil “childish things”?

  • Is God’s will that people prosper and be in good health “childish things”?

No these things are needed until we become complete.

Believing this wrong doctrine throws out half of Jesus’ teaching by making it null and void…it ensures that the gospel doesn’t become real and more than just words, it ensures the devil gets away with everything, because the tools (gifts) for building have been forgotten.

Jesus said, “you make the Word of God of no effect by what you teach and do”. (Mark 7:13) how would you feel on judgement day if you found that you taught people to block and ignore half of Jesus’ teachings?

Check out just a few Faith Scriptures

Just a quick look over these scriptures is enough, they speak for themselves.

Part 2

Let’s look at miracles going out with the apostles… who were miracles given to?

Given to the elders of the assembly (local church)…

Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. (James 5:14-15)

Also the church… not just the apostles

1 Now after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two ahead of him into every city and place, where he was about to come.

9 Heal the sick who are therein, and tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God has come near to you.’

19 Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you. (Luke 10:1-19)

He never sent people to preach the gospel without them also healing the sick etc. (destroying the works of the devil)

Given to whole body for the benefit of all

7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the profit of all.

8 For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom, and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;

9 to another faith, by the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, by the same Spirit;

10 and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; to another different kinds of languages; and to another the interpretation of languages.

11 But the one and the same Spirit works all of these, distributing to each one separately as he desires.

27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.

28 God has set some in the assembly: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracle workers, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and various kinds of languages.

29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all miracle workers?

30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with various languages? Do all interpret?

31 But earnestly desire the best gifts. Moreover, I show a most excellent way to you. (1 Cor 12)

See the Holy Spirit distributes to each person as he desires for the benefit of all

And regarding apostles, prophets etc…

11 He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers;

12 for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ;

13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; (Eph 4:11-13)

They have been given to teach the body to work the works of Jesus, until we come to the fullness of the stature of the man Christ Jesus… we are still miles from that fullness, we are still partial.

Has the evangelist been done away with? Or pastors? Teachers? and the same goes for prophets and apostles!

Also given to those who believe…

15 He said to them, “Go into all the world, and preach the Good News to the whole creation.

16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned.

17 These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new languages;

18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will in no way hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

See it was go into all the world and those that believed would be saved and they would have signs of casting out demonstongues, and healing.

Whoever believes on Him…

Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.

Would that include healing the sick? Yes it includes all the signs and wonders Jesus did. Do you believe in Jesus? These signs should follow you! (John 14:12)

In conclusion

The promise is never as good as the real thing, what use is a promise  if it remains a promise? The letter (scripture) kills but the Spirit gives life. (2 Cor 3:6)

If dad says I’m going to take you to Disneyland but never does what use it the promise? He has become a liar, woe to those that make God a liar and teach it also!

Having the promise to have abundant life is never as good living the abundant life, having the promise to be free indeed is never as good as being free indeed. If you’re bound by sickness and pain in either your mind or body what kind of abundant life or freedom is that? (Luke 13:16)

Let’s see what Jesus came to do, wanted to do, told them to do, and go and do it. The way he showed us to do it!

The world is in agony and the church is half dead because of wrong doctrines, this lie from the devil has hindered the church for hundreds of years.

It’s to whosoever believes!

For Him and His reward!
