This is one of the most important revelations a Christian MUST have to step up to another level.

Key Scripture: Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

What happened when I chose Jesus? Did anything change? Am I different or did I just say a prayer and am the same?

The Bible says that something did happen, it says we became a new creation in Christ, that means different from the one that you were before.

Lets have a quick look at some scriptures that show this new creation…

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

1 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God………..8 so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

1 John 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

There are many scriptures that show we are a new creation, I don’t really want to focus on that so much as how it all works in the ‘real world’.

You are a Spirit, that has a soul (trained by your old sinful spirit) and live in a body.

Your Spirit is brand new, born of an incorruptible seed, it can not sin, it is in the image of God, like Christ identical, it has His life. It is as righteous as God made perfect by the work at Calvary, as you died with Him, and Rose with Him, in Him, Like Him, Perfect.

If this is true then how come I have all these sinful desires? The sinful desires are not of you, they are sin within your soul (or body) at work within you which is exceedingly cunning.

Side note: God showed us this by giving us a shadow, the only time a shadow is under our feet is when the sun is in the highest place however it can be keep behind us by facing the sun (God).

Computer: You could be liked to the second owner of a computer, the 1st owner (sinful spirit, dead in sin) who first loaded up the software (your soul) made a real mess of it (everything became selfish etc…) it left viruses, key-loggers, spyware, adware,trojans, and all kind of half installed software that continually crashes (and allows entry to the enemy), you are the perfect spirit trying to control/renew/purify the imperfect soul/software. Many times you will probably throw your hands in the air and say this silly computer its got a mind of its own.

Promised Land: God showed this new creation battle a different way, He chose the children of Israel to demonstrate it over thousands of years, by them trying to take the promised land, they were their cities given by God, but they had other inhabitants living in them (old software and demons in their flesh). Although they were the new ruler, new owner they weren’t quite ruling and owning yet.

Sometimes though wrong choices they were under siege, defeated and even taken captive, today there are Christians everywhere including you and me that are demonstrating these battles. Some are taken away captive, some are under siege, some are defeated by the sin within their soul (which is not them by the way). Are they any less Christians? No they are either obedient sons of God or disobedient sons of God, either way you can’t become unborn of the Spirit. They are just in the battle for the promised land.

Angel: Another way of looking at it is if the Lord decided to give an angel a go at living in your body for a week or two… you can go and sit with the great cloud of witnesses and watch. The angel would hop in to your body, the first thing it would do is be shocked at how you can live on so little of God, such muffled communication, such empty love, such divided / conflicting desires, such lack of power and light. The angel would immediately cry out God help me, knowing it would be impossible to be effective with this amount of light, power, love and wow such deafness and blindness. The angel would know the source of all this supply and would make a bee line for God.

Now the enemy would make a bee line straight for that angel (living in your body), to confuse the angel, make it forget who it is, forget the source of all life, to get distracted in to entertaining itself, hunting out the ‘good life’ buying things, having things. The enemy would be trying to make the angel selfish, sinful, distracted, confused, indifferent all with the aim to making it feel powerless, helpless, defeated.

The interesting thing here if you play this scenario out in your mind you will see where life has put you in a box with fear or saying “this is your place go no further” where as the angel would not have these restrictions, the challenge is to play it out and see if you can identify and overcome these self imposed restrictions.

Our everything: You are one Spirit with God the bible says, a new creation, God and man as one, father and son (daughter) He is your everything, you are the balloon He is the air that fills it, this is the new creation it draws all life of God, He is our peace, our righteousness, our divine nature, our strength the list goes on and on. So next time you see desires in you that are not from God then you know that it is sin within (or trying to get in) these are not your desires and they are not you, you are perfect, don’t allow the software to take over the computer, don’t forget who you are, the key scripture at the start of this study says the word of God separates soul from spirit, you must do the same to really step up to a new level of overcoming.

Roman 8:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent to the law that it is good. 17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwells no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me.

If your struggling its your identity / faith that is struggling, separate soul from spirit with the word of God, and the wrong thoughts and intents of the heart which are not of the real (new) you, remember that God is the source of everything you need to overcome. Don’t function on so little, don’t allow the old to remain.
